Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge, also known by its Japanese title Dragon Ball Z: The Incredible Mightiest vs. Mightiest (Japanese: ドラゴンボールZ とびっきりの最強対最強, Hepburn: Doragon Bōru Zetto: Tobikkiri no Saikyō tai Saikyō), or by Toei's own English title Dragon Ball Z: The Strongest Rivals, is a 1991 Japanese animescience fictionmartial arts film and the fifth Dragon Ball Z animated feature movie, originally released in Japan on July 20 at the Toei Anime Fair.

Plot[edit]

From his spaceship, Cooler watches on as his younger brother Frieza destroys the Saiyan home world. Cooler's henchmen observe a pod fleeing the doomed planet that is transporting a Saiyan infant to Earth and prepare to destroy it, but Cooler allows it to go, accounting that it is Frieza's responsibility. More than twenty years later, this Saiyan, Goku, defeats Frieza on Planet Namek. After learning of his brother's death, Cooler takes his Armored Squadron - Salza, Neiz, and Doore, on a mission to reclaim his family's honor. On Earth, Cooler's forces ambush Goku and his friends while they are on a camping trip, and Goku is badly wounded when he takes an energy blast from Cooler that was intended for Gohan.

In Dragon Ball Z: Fusion reborn, Janemba breaks the boundary between worlds, allowing warriors from the afterlife (including Frieza himself) to attack the living. When you're defeated in the afterlife, we're told, your very spirit is destroyed, and you essentially cease to exist in any kind of form. Frieza can be found in either an S-Rift or you can get Frieza after a certain point when he becomes part of the boss encounter that has Zarbon and Dodoria in it. Obviously you are passed this (for others that are looking for him), until you fight him in a predetermined rift on Map 7 after beating the game you won't be able to recruit him even.

Krillin and Oolong find shelter in a cave with Goku while Gohan, riding on the back of the dragon Icarus to avoid being detected by Cooler's men, travels to obtain the healing Senzu Beans that can save his father. Cooler orders his men to completely obliterate the forest, believing Goku is alive and in hiding. After obtaining the beans, Gohan is ambushed by Cooler's men who overwhelm him. As Gohan is about to be killed by Doore, he is saved by Piccolo who engages the Armored Squadron as Gohan flies off to complete his mission. Piccolo overwhelms the henchmen and he kills Doore and Neiz. As Piccolo and Salza fight, Cooler arrives and catches Piccolo off-guard and impales him through the chest with his Death Beam energy blast as he orders Salza to pursue Gohan. Salza manages to track Gohan to the cave and destroys the beans before Krillin attempts to fight him. However, Gohan successfully heals Goku with a spare bean tucked in his waistband. After Krillin and Gohan are quickly defeated by Salza, Goku appears, now fully healed. Cooler arrives, holding onto an unconscious Piccolo who he blasts with an unexpected energy attack. Now angered, Goku powers up, subsequently knocks Salza away, and proceeds to battle Cooler.

After Goku proves to be a worthy opponent, Cooler tells of his bleak history with Frieza and that he had intended to kill his brother himself. He then reveals that also like his brother, he can transform - but to a level even higher than Frieza. Now at full power, Cooler pummels the Saiyan and proceeds to destroy the landscape as he boasts and mocks Goku. However, after seeing a bird die from wounds inflicted by damage caused during the struggle, Goku reflects on the wellbeing of his loved ones and the fate of Earth. Goku retrieves the deceased bird and transforms into his Super Saiyan form, using his energy to revive the bird. Cooler then finds himself, like his brother was, grossly outclassed by Goku. Cooler powers up an enormous Death Ball and launches the energy attack with the hopes to destroy Goku and the planet along with him. Goku manages to resist and overpower the attack with the Kamehameha wave and sends it hurdling toward Cooler who is launched into space and collides with the sun. As he is incinerated, Cooler realizes that Goku was the Saiyan infant he spared decades ago. As he laments over his mistake, he is seemingly disintegrated.

Goku, drained after his victory, is found by Krillin, Gohan, Oolong and Icarus. They celebrate the victory and search for Piccolo when Salza reappears and prepares to kill them. However, Salza is unexpectedly killed by Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon. Gohan yells out for Piccolo who is nowhere to be seen. The Namekian, having recovered, drinks some water and gazes skyward.
